Modern riffs and an alternative approach to a distinctive melodic sound are the main elements of SECRET CHORD, a promising portuguese metal band founded in 2015 in Vila Nova de Poiares (Coimbra).
After two years of dedication and persistence in the pursuit of their own artistic expression, SECRET CHORD released a four-track EP, “Dimensions Of A Dream,” which led to the band’s recognition within the national heavy music scene and a consistent number of live shows at various venues and small festivals across the country.
In 2018, SECRET CHORD decided to present a new single titled “Wraith Of Oblivion” and released it as their first official music video, showcasing an evolution towards a darker concept of sound and image. Throughout 2019, they consolidated their position in the Portuguese underground, delivering powerful live performances and thriving on their new path.
The unexpected lockdown of 2020 led the band to focus on their creative process, resulting in a set of new songs that formed their debut full-length album, “AURORA”, released on March 12, 2021, by Sleaszy Rider Records. After this release, they did their best to promote the new album in Portugal, with a few shows, and throughout Europe, through magazine reviews, blogs, YouTubers, etc. Also in August of that same year, they released the song “O PASTOR” by the Portuguese band Madredeus through a music video and digital platforms; a cover version that has been with the band since their first show.
2022 was the year of recovery for live shows, and in 2023, the band embarked on a European tour for the first time, visiting Germany, France, the Czech Republic, Denmark, the Netherlands, and Slovakia.
In December of that same year, they released a new track, already a preview of their second album – “ROPE (TO BE FREE)“, with a music video featuring a different concept and a striking message.
This year, they released the second and the third singles for the upcoming album: the song “THE CHOICE” that talks about a sensitive topic: abortion and the song “ALONE” that talks about power of never give up because you’ll never be alone and it is also a song dedicated to all the fans.
Currently, SECRET CHORD is recording and preparing everything for the released of their second full-length album.
